Dionysus and Ariadne

 

Dionysus reclines, holding a kantharos (drinking cup).  He is accompanied by a female figure, usually identified as his wife Ariadne.  A plate with loaves of bread sits before them.  Attic black-figure neck-amphora, by an unknown artist after the manner of the Mastos Painter; ca. 520 BCE.  Found at Vulci; now in the Staatliche Antikensammlungen, Munich.
