Aeneas, Anchises and Ascanius Terracotta from Pompeii (before 79 AD) – Naples, Archaeological Museum.
This statue is especially appropriate for Father’s Day. Anchises was the Trojan prince who was the beloved of Aphrodite. Anchises son was Aeneas, who carried the aged Anchises, along with his own son Ascanius, from the burning city of Troy. They travelled to Italy with other survivors of the destruction of Troy, and Ascanius founded the city of Alba Longa.
