Vergina Museum, MacedoniaGreece

The Verginia Museum preserves the royal tombs of Phillip II, father of Alexander the Great, and Alexander IV, Alexander’s son. A gold larnax with a royal diadem inside a marble sarcophagus may have contained the ashes of Kleopatra, Philip’s youngest wife. Another fascinating discovery enclosed by the museum is a heroon (hero-shrine) with a cist grave.
